60 years ago, in cadence with a statewide movement to expand access to affordable education, workforce training, and transfer opportunities to four-year institutions, Lehigh Carbon Community College opened its doors to a world of opportunities for hundreds of thousands of students—and counting—close to home.

Lehigh Carbon Community College Student of the Year awards are nominated and selected by the LCCC Faculty Association. These award-winning students celebrate service, enrich the campus community, and pursue and achieve big goals. This year’s Student of the Year, Shenandoah DeNardo, and Early College Student of the Year, Meghan Duffy, charted an impressive course at LCCC. Their futures hold the promise of even more.

Commencement signals the start of a journey, where belief in what's possible meets the courage to finally begin. Student speaker Leslie Tineo Lopez and soloist Ella Duke embody this adventurous, forward-thinking spirit in their academics, their fullness of student life, as well as their willingness to take chances for a chance to take the stage at Lehigh Carbon Community College’s 58th annual commencement ceremony, held May 21, 2025, at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown.
Building the Future of Early Childhood Education: LCCC’s CDA Practicum
Earning a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is often out of reach for early childhood educators who work long hours for low pay. Lehigh Carbon Community College’s CDA Practicum is changing the game and the landscape by making certification more accessible, supportive, and transformative. Early Childhood Education is just as critical as K-12 education, and LCCC participants are helping build a stronger foundation for generations to come.
