Alpha Epsilon Zeta Chapter
LCCC - The First Community College Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi in the State of Pennsylvania

Kappa Delta Pi was founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois and is the largest honor society in Education representing 572 undergraduate and professional chapters and more than 45,000 active members. Many distinguished members over the last century have included Margaret Mead, Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, and current leaders in education Howard Gardner, Maxine Greene, and Carol Gilligan.

Individuals who qualify for membership exhibit the society ideals of scholarship, integrity in service, and commitment to excellence in teaching and its allied professions. Selection as a member in the Alpha Epsilon Zeta chapter is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that is indicative of steady growth in the profession. Candidates must have first term sophomore standing of 30 credits completed or currently enrolled, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be enrolled in an education program of study. Professionals currently working in an education-related field automatically qualify for membership.

Kappa Delta Pi is the largest International Honor Society in Education, and LCCC was the first community college in Pennsylvania to form its chapter of the organization.

Teacher Education Student Association

The Teacher Education Student Association promotes awareness of current issues in education. It also provides experiences in leadership and introduces students to the opportunities and responsibilities of becoming a teacher. TESA participates in many exciting community service activities such as Hearts4Haiti, The Salvation Army Clothing Drive, Breast Cancer and American Cancer Society, and the Autism Walk.

Members of TESA make a difference and also engage in many opportunities to foster their leadership and communication skills. Any Teacher Education Student can become a member. Annual membership dues are $5. For more information or to obtain a membership, contact teachered@lccc.edu.
