Do I have to use the scholarship right away, or can I wait?

The scholarship covers two years beginning directly after graduation. If you do not come in the fall semester immediately following your senior year for the fall and spring semesters for that year, you will only have one more year to use the scholarship.

Who is eligible to use the scholarship?

Graduates of Tamaqua High School who graduate in 2003 or thereafter  who attended both their junior and senior years at Tamaqua HS and who are not related by blood, adoption or marriage to any Morgan Trustee as a first cousin or nearer relative.

What are the requirements to obtain the scholarship?

The student must be a graduate of Tamaqua HS, have attended both junior and senior years at the high school, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1, complete the LCCC application and statement of residency by April 1, be enrolled in a degree seeking program, and complete the Morgan Success Scholarship application by April 1.

What does the scholarship cover? Are textbooks included?

The scholarship covers tuition and fees and the LCCC Textbook+ fees. The scholarship does not cover any other expenses such as supplies, uniforms for nursing or flying lessons for the professional pilot program. The scholarship will not cover the cost of textbooks if students choose to opt out of the LCCC Textbook+ program.

Why do I have to complete the financial aid application (the FAFSA)?

To obtain the scholarship the student must complete and submit the FAFSA by April 1st prior to the beginning of each fall semester.  The Morgan Success Scholarship will cover only that portion of a student’s tuition and fees that are not covered by federal and/or state grants including OVR or other outside funding.  If a student is eligible to receive federal grants, state grants, or other outside funding, that money will be used first towards their tuition and fees and the scholarship will pay what is not covered.  If the student receives enough federal and state aid to cover their tuition and fees the student will not receive a Morgan Success Scholarship.

Does the scholarship cover summer classes?

A student who takes spring semester classes on the scholarship prior to the summer session, is in good academic standing  according to the guidelines as published in the Lehigh Carbon Community College catalog, and successfully completes 9 credits during the spring semester is eligible to take summer classes.

Is the scholarship automatically renewed each year?

To continue on the scholarship each year the student must be in good academic standing according to college guidelines, must successfully complete at least 9 credits each semester, enroll in at least 9 credits each semester, and  complete and submit a FAFSA by April 1st prior to the beginning of each fall semester.

What happens if I am not in good academic standing one semester? Will I lose the scholarship?

You will need to pay for the next semester on your own and must again be in good academic standing and successfully complete 9 credits at the end of that semester  to continue on the scholarship the following semester.

Do I have to use the scholarship for two years? Can I transfer after one year?

You do not have to use the scholarship for two years.  You can transfer after one year.  However the scholarship is only available for the two years immediately after high school graduation at Lehigh Carbon Community College.  It cannot be transferred to another college.

What if I graduated from Tamaqua High School before 2003? Can I use the scholarship?

No. The scholarship is only for graduates of Tamaqua High School who graduate in 2003 or thereafter who attended both their junior and senior year at Tamaqua HS and who are not related by blood, adoption or marriage to any Morgan Trustee as a first cousin or nearer relative.  The scholarship is available for the two years immediately following high school graduation only.

If I choose to attend another college, can I use the scholarship for summer classes when i come home in the summer?

No. The scholarship is for students who are attending and matriculating at LCCC only.  The scholarship is not transferable.  Refer to the Morgan Guest application.
