LCCC Offers Training in Health Care Careers for Spring 2020

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning the wide range of career skills required in the healthcare field. Classes are held at LCCC campuses in Allentown and Tamaqua.
EKG Technician and CPR Training
teaches aspects of anatomy/physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, ECG terminology, medical and legal patient contact ethics, hands-on echocardiography and CPR certification training, including lectures on echocardiography, ambulatory monitoring and stress testing. Two classes are offered, both on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. One is held March 2 through April 15 at LCCC’s Donley Center in Allentown and another at LCCC Morgan Center in Tamaqua beginning April 20 through June 8 (no class on May 25). Fee is $1,141 and includes text.
A Community Health Worker
course will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 21 through June 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at LCCC’s Tamaqua campus. The course will help prepare students to become a liaison between healthcare agencies and communities, to provide guidance, social assistance, health education, advocacy, and referral and follow up services, as well as promote health within the community. Course fee is $1,300. To learn more, health worker orientation sessions are required and will be held in Tamaqua on March 23 and April 1, at 10 a.m. or 4:30 p.m., free of charge.
