FT - 40 hours per week: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (one hour nonpaid lunch). Evening and weekend hours are required during peak registration times.

Summary
Serves as the main point of contact for special populations of students including but not limited to: veterans, reservists, active duty members, eligible spouses, and dependents; high school dual enrollment and Early College students. Responsible for certifying all educational benefits received through Veterans Affairs. Collaborates with the department of High School Connections to ensure timely and accurate registrations for our high school dual enrollment and Early College students. Reports to the Associate Director of Registration & Student Records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as a School Certifying Official for veteran’s affairs counseling and date certifications.
- Maintains and updates LCCC Veterans portal community and student Canvas life page.
- Creates Fall and Spring veterans engagement newsletter.
- Assists with the selection and application process for the Veteran’s Salute National Honor Society.
- Manages the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) certification process incompliance with VA regulations and procedures.
- Counsels students regarding Veterans Affairs educational benefits for veterans, reservists, active duty and eligible spouses and dependents.
- Manages enrollment monitoring system for reporting to VA.
- Oversees the processing of student Tuition Assistance requests for each of the military branches in accordance with their regulations.
- Collaborates with the Veterans Event Committee to plan, promote and execute various events throughout the year including participation with our student Veterans Club.
- Attends veteran-related events and trainings on and off-campus.
- Coordinates High School dual enrollment and Early College admission and registration process.
- Updates procedure manual and review web content for accuracy for primary job responsibilities.
- Cross-training on department functions to create a team of workers who are more knowledgeable.
- Assist with general in-person, phone, and email traffic for the department during peak times.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Education:
- Associate degree from an accredited institution or two years’ related work experience.
Certifications:
- Act 153 Clearances (Act34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience:
- Required experience in working with veteran or military-serving students and their families.
- Initiative, judgment, creative, self-motivated, accuracy and discretion are essential.
- Typing and computer experience Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Access and Excel is a plus.

- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors; teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous personal growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited institution.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities are required for this job due to excessive phone inquiries during peak times.
