Suzanne Mulhern earned a M.Ed. in Special Education from East Stroudsburg University. Prior to that degree, she earned a B.A. in Psychology from Cedar Crest College, an A.A.S. in Early Childhood/Early Intervention from LCCC, and an A.A.S. from Northampton Community College in Early Childhood Education. She recently participated in the People-to-People Early Childhood Delegation to Brazil. Ms. Mulhern has taught Early Childhood Education/Early Intervention, Special Education, and Early Childhood Education, and Director Credential courses at LCCC since 2001; she also teaches courses at Lehigh University. She worked as Special Education Coordinator for Project REACH, a federal grant that evaluated and revised the Paraprofessional Special Education degree which included a number of new courses designed by her and the REACH team. She also participated as a mentor for Project SET SAIL. Ms. Mulhern has worked in the community through a Positive Behavioral Intervention Support grant, SCRIPP grant, Building Inclusive Child Care program, as a preschool teacher and director, and as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher with middle school and high school students in classrooms and hospitalized programs. She has presented at national and regional conference venues including NACCTEP, PACCA, KACEI/RACC Professional Development Conference Day, PA Positive Behavior Implementer’s Forum, Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges, and Learning Summit 2013. Locally, she presents workshops on challenging behaviors, families, developmentally appropriate behavior, and emotional literacy. She has been trained to provide “Facing the Challenge”, “Center for Social and Emotional Learning (CSEFEL)”, “Rock Solid Curriculum”. Ms. Mulhern is dedicated to volunteerism and spends many hours with the Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley, Notre Dame of Bethlehem parish, Odyssey of the Mind, and The Family Project. Her professional affiliations include CEC, DEC, Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and National Association for Multicultural Education. Ms. Mulhern is a board member of the Jones Summer Institute and the LV Professonal Development Day Planning Committee.
