LCCC opens Lisa Jane Scheller

Lehigh Carbon Community College unveiled its new Lisa Jane Scheller Student Center Monday, on the former site of the South Ward Fire Company in Tamaqua.

The opening of the $400,000 Scheller Center wasn't the only good news for LCCC students, however.

The Scheller family, which founded Silberline Manufacturing Company, Hometown, helped fund the center in honor of their daughter, Lisa Jane, and added to its generosity with the establishment of a $1.5 million scholarship endowment to the college for students who seek to pursue higher education beyond LCCC at four-year schools, including Bloomsburg, Kutztown and East Stroudsburg Universities.
