Admissions into LCCC for Veterans
The first step is to apply for admission.
Admissions Guide for Using Military Benefits
View our admissions guide for how to get started using your VA educational benefits as a veteran, reservist, active duty, or eligible spouse or dependent.
Credit for Military Experience
By submitting your official military transcripts, previous military experience and/or USAFI courses will be evaluated for college credit. The college evaluates previous military training in accordance with the recommendations of the American Council on Education through the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experience in the Armed Forces. Validated records of training programs or military courses must be submitted to begin this process, and the evaluation can take up to two weeks from the time we receive it. A notice will be sent to your LCCC student email account when the evaluation is complete.
To have your official military transcript sent to LCCC:
- Use the Joint Services Transcript for those who served in the Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy (Active Duty, Reserve and Veterans).
- For those who served in the Airforce, CCAF: https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Barnes/CCAF/Display/Article/803247/community-college-of-the-air-force-transcripts/
Military Transcripts must be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prior Learning Credit
Prior Learning Assessment provides students with an opportunity to attain college-level credit for the life, work and education experience they have already mastered outside the traditional classroom. PLA can save you time and money because your learning experience may qualify for an award of college credit as a substitute for taking a required course.
If you have completed courses through another college and/or CLEP and DANTES exams, official records from each institution or examination agency must be sent to LCCC’s Registration and Student Records office.
