Lehighton Students Have Access to Scholarship Funds through LCCC
published Friday, June 11, 2021
Recent Lehighton High School graduates and returning adult students are encouraged to apply to Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) this summer and prepare for the fall semester with plenty of time to access scholarship funds and register for classes. Specific scholarships are available to Lehighton students that will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies and other related expenses at LCCC. Students can use these funds in the summer semester that starts July 6, the fall semester that starts Aug. 21, or later and only have to carry a minimum of 6 credit hours to be eligible.
The scholarship was established in the fall of 2017 in memory of Byron L. Shoemaker, who was a native of Lehighton and believed strongly in the community college mission.
Qualifications of the scholarship are:
- Be a resident of Lehighton
- Preference given to students enrolled in Health Care Science programs, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management and Education programs
- Be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
