LCCC Holds Virtual Commencement Ceremony August 12

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will hold its 53rd annual Commencement Ceremony virtually at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12. More than 900 students from December 2019, May 2020 and August 2020 have earned associate degrees or certificates. Graduates had the opportunity to participate in the ceremony by submitting photos that will be included in the pre-recorded presentation. LCCC president Dr. Ann D. Bieber will preside over the ceremony and offer the welcome and remarks.
 
The broadcast feed will be open at 5:40 p.m., and the virtual ceremony will go live on YouTube at 6 p.m. At the conclusion, the chat function will be open to congratulate the graduates.
 
Featured student speakers will be class of 2020 graduates Daniel M. Melin, who is receiving the associate in arts degree in communication, and Jennifer M. Pacanowski, who is receiving the associate in arts degree in general studies.
 
Michelle L. Mitchell, professor and Learning Specialist, will announce the Student of the Year, which will be presented to an outstanding graduate of the year, selected by the LCCC Faculty Association. In addition, the All-Pennsylvania Academic Team members, Alexis A. Hill, of Jim Thorpe, who is graduating with a degree in education, and Mary G. Wilhelm, of Lehighton, who is graduating with a degree in education, will be recognized.
 
Larissa M. Verta, vice president for academic services and student development, will present the candidates for graduation and will be assisted by the college’s deans. In the absence of walking across a stage to receive their diploma, the names of all student graduates will be included in the presentation. In conclusion, Peggy M. Heim, dean of student support and success will close with remarks.
