Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will celebrate its 29th annual Week of the Young Child (WOTYC) April 9 through 16 with a professional development session for adult learners and events for children.
The free morning program for children on Wednesday, April 13, at 10 a.m. features Stretch–n–Grow, the fabulously fun fitness program for kids. A Saturday morning training seminar, held on April 9, will feature classroom educator Dr. Jean Feldman, who has served as an instructor of adults, author and consultant for more than 40 years.
All of the WOTYC events are held on LCCC’s main campus in Schnecksville, Pa., and are open to the public. Cost for Saturday’s training seminar is $75 per person and $35 for LCCC students. The children’s events are free.
Connected to the Week of the Young Child events are Early Childhood Education (ECE) professional series and Reggio-inspired workshops for adult learners, where individuals can fulfill Department of Human Services (DHS), Keystone STARS or CEUs (Continuing Education Units) hourly requirements. Each workshop meets these requirements as they inspire participants through use of hands-on recycled and natural materials and vibrant photographs of real classrooms. A free workshop for high school students interested in Pre-K through 4th grade is set for Friday, April 15. Local high school students will spend the morning attending interactive workshops on guiding young children in learning.
Preregistration is needed for all WOTYC events. Registration deadline is March 25.
