Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is accepting entries for a street art project at its Donley Center at 718 Hamilton Street, Allentown, Pa., now through midnight of Jan. 11, 2019. This is a public art project sponsored by LCCC and funded in part by a PA Partner in the Arts grant through the PA Council on the Arts and Lehigh Valley Arts Council. The installation will express the individual visions of five artists or artist groups, each producing one of five side-by-side panels (15’ wide by 8’ high) on the building’s “Wall on Hall” Street.

Artists will be encouraged to work with local schools, community organizations, and other groups to help them express how they see the community, representing the theme of diversity, equity and inclusion while reflecting the ongoing transformation of the City of Allentown. Submissions must include the following:

  • A resume or short biography.
  • Five digital images – examples of your work that give a sense of your skill and approach to this project. Please include at least one detailed composition of the specific concept for this project within these five images.
  • A brief description of the proposed mural and how you will utilize this platform to exemplify the importance of Diversity and Unity within a community (500 word limit).
  • A brief description of your approach to the planning and execution of this mural project (500 word limit).

Proposals should be submitted online to www.LCCC.edu/wallonhall.

A selection committee will choose 10 artists, who will then provide their mural designs in on a 30” wide by 10” high scale by end of February for exhibition at LCCC’s Donley Center. Five artists or artistic teams will be chosen in early April and will receive a stipend of $500 each for materials and supplies. Installation will begin in April, with completion by June 30, 2019, and an unveiling in July.
