Work Schedule:  FT, 40 hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to work evening hours for after school events if needed.

LCCC SHINE Facilitator – After School Program Grant – Morgan Center Sites

 

This position is reviewed annually for continuation and is strictly contingent upon the receipt of necessary funding sources and contractual agreements. 

Summary

Responsible for overseeing and the administration of the LCCC SHINE, a nationally recognized After-School Program in Carbon/Schuylkill Counties.  Oversee SHINE local, state and federal grants.  Provides ongoing program development, assessment, public relations and administration of SHINE program in Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill County.  Acts as liaison with LCCC to schools, community organizations, and business/industry.  Carries out duties to meet the needs of parents/children enrolled in the SHINE programs at all centers.   Flexible hours but may need evening hours for after-school events.  Reports to the Workforce Development Healthcare Education Manager.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate SHINE After-School Centers in Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill County.
  • Hire and evaluate SHINE administrators, teachers, SHINE staff and LCCC college interns.
  • Create and implement the SHINE professional development plan implementation, educational program goals, curricula, and develop parent education programs.
  • Work with evaluator to produce mandated reports – insure effective data collection.
  • Assist in grant writing.
  • Partner with local school districts, parochial schools, technical schools, and business/industry.
  • Engage parents, families, and community members through SHINE Centers to identify educational and support needs and connect them to literacy, ESL, and workforce development opportunities.
  • Communicate community-identified workforce and educational needs to college workforce development and academic units to inform credit, non-credit, and career pathway programming.
  • Support innovative strategies to integrate STEAM into education.
  • Coordinate with LCCC Education Department to increase educational opportunity for LCCC Interns.
  • Communication with elementary, middle/high school principals and attend the monthly superintendents meeting.
  • Prepare report for the bimonthly SHINE Advisory Board (Interagency and Family Collaborative).
  • Performs other assignments as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

 

Certifications

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

 

Work Experience

  • Must have administrative experience, finance, organizational and computer skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with a background in education will be given preference.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
