Summary

The Director of Advanced Manufacturing provides strategic leadership, business development, and operational oversight for all advanced manufacturing workforce initiatives. This role is responsible for the growth, quality, and financial sustainability of contract training, mobile manufacturing labs, and pre-apprenticeship programs serving regional employers and open-enrollment audiences. The Director leads market development, sales strategy, revenue generation, program design, and delivery, ensuring alignment with regional workforce needs and institutional priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all advanced manufacturing workforce initiatives, including contract training, mobile manufacturing labs, and pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business and growth plan for advanced manufacturing training that includes market analysis, service offerings, pricing strategy, staffing, and multi-year financial projections.
  • Lead business development, employer engagement, and sales activities; establish and meet annual revenue goals for contract training, mobile unit deployment, and pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Identify emerging industry needs through market research and employer feedback, and ensure programs align with workforce demand, industry credentials, and best practices.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, delivery, and quality of customized training programs using mobile, classroom, and online modalities.
  • Direct curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with faculty, instructors, and workforce partners.
  • Manage personnel, instructors, contractors, equipment, and physical assets required to deliver advanced manufacturing programs efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including academic programs, grants, student services, and workforce staff—to support integrated career pathways and institutional goals.
  • Monitor budgets, contracts, performance metrics, and outcomes to ensure fiscal accountability, program effectiveness, and sustainable growth.
  • Represent the college in a positive and professional manner with employers, community organizations, economic development agencies, and other external partners.
  • Manage contact tracking, recruitment planning, and pipeline development using Salesforce or comparable CRM tools.
  • Contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned in support of workforce and college priorities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse history, Act 114 FBI Clearance fingerprinting).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or logistics industry.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, strong sense of initiative, motivation and self-direction.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact positively with students, employers, faculty and staff in a professional manner.
  • A positive attitude, patience, service orientation and an awareness of the needs and concerns of varied populations.
  • Ability to lead by example; plan, organize and implement multiple projects and see projects through to successful conclusion.
  • Ability to function well in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork as well as initiative and independence.
  • Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors; teamwork/cooperation; initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

PREFERRED

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in higher education administration, student affairs, human resources or other related field
  • Experience in adult or continuing education.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Spanish bi-lingual preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
