Summary
Provides and assists lead graphic designer with graphic design and production for both internal and external pieces, with major focus on marketing and student recruitment. Sets and maintains graphic design standards. Creates digital and print publications using the established design standard. Assists with internal publication requests and creates graphic designs for all college materials. Uses desktop publishing, as well as photo editing software. Works with clients to meet their goals, using a high-quality approach to design. This position reports to Director of Marketing and Publications in the Office of College Relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes and prioritizes incoming internal publication requests.
- Responsible for maintaining highest design standards and for creating materials that meet those standards.
- Prepares various types of documents, including graphics, certificates, in-house brochures/flyers, tests, tables, in-house posters, postcards logos, maps, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Works with college faculty, staff and administrators to create materials for promotional and communication purposes.
- Works with Mailroom and Duplicating on production of publications, including postcards, brochures, flyers, etc.
- Responsible for creating posters and other large format projects.
- Proficient on a variety of production and printing equipment.
- Maintains and assures confidentiality of all documents.
- Serves as backup assistance for Duplicating services as needed.
- Ensures that all public documents are in an accessible format, per federal/state laws.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
Education
- High school degree or equivalent.
Certifications
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience
- Knowledge of all Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Acrobat, as well as MS Word.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines, work in a stressful environment and work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Must have good communications skills, as well as good grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. Must have good organizational and proofreading skills.
- Ability to sit in one place to operate equipment for extended periods.
- Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in graphic design or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years’ graphic design experience.
- Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
