We offer State approved Emergency Responder, Emergency Medical Technician and an intensive Accelerated Emergency Medical Technician course at various times and locations throughout the year including a follow-up Paramedic course for those who have completed the Emergency Medical Technician course and have been working as an EMT.

The Accelerated EMT Class is an extremely fast-paced, dynamic and highly structured program, run during July, designed to certify education to individuals likely to respond to pre-hospital emergencies. The program includes didactic presentation, skill demonstration, hands-on practical skill workshops and practical experience provided by the partnering hospital and Pennsylvanis State Certified EMT instructor team. Successful completion of National Incident Management System online training (NIMS 100 and 700) is required before class start as well as other prerequisites. AHA CPR and HazMat Awareness requirements will be completed during class. This program is held at the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute (EMI) of LVHN, 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown, with clinical experiences at LVHN sites. Textbook is required and can be purchased at EMI about 1 month before class start and picked up between the hours of 7:30-11:30 am and 12:30-3:30pm.
Prerequisites for all EMI Allentown participants are:
1. NIMS 100 and NIMS 700 online (for EMI)
2. Physicians's release form
3. List of inoculations (for EMI)
4. Proof of medical insurance
5. Home internet/computer access for online testing

Accelerated EMT Program-Schuylkill County
This is the same EMT Basic Program normally offered, but the timeline has been shortened with more frequent classes to accommodate students who have more time in the summer to accomplish and finish this important training. This class is held at the Morgan Campus of LCCC, 234 High Street, Tamaqua, PA. Textbook and gear are included.
Prerequisites for the Schuylkill County participants are:
1. Physician's release form
2. Proof of medical insurance

Emergency Medical Responder
48 - 80 hour course for people first on the scene of an accident or medical emergency, teaching: CPR, emergency care, patient handling, assisting ambulance and rescue personnel on scene. Text additional for most classes. Minimum number of registrants = 12.
Employment in a First Responder position will need Child Abuse and Criminal History clearances.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program is for individuals who are likely to respond to pre-hospital emergencies. Upon successful completion, the student will be Pennsylvania DOH certified. Minimum age is 16, and if 18 or older will be eligible to test for the National Registry EMT credential. National Registry Fee is appx. $75.00. Please note location listed with each class offering. Participants will be required to secure a physician release form, show proof of health insurance, as pre-requisites to submit before first class. In addition, internet and computer access for online testing is required for some locations. Text, gear and attire requirements differ at different locations and may incur additional cost.
