Identifies accessibility issues/concerns and improvement strategies relative to physical and electronic access campus-wide in accordance with state and federal accessibility laws and standards. Coordinates implementation of improvement plans and evaluates accessibility upon completion, working with the information technology department, faculty, facilities and other college staff to ensure access. Assists students seeking academic assistance due to temporary limitations or seeking medical withdrawals from college, in accordance with Title IX standards. Coordinates high school partnership programs for students with disabilities, as well as programs and events designed to support students with disabilities transition to college. Some evening hours and/or travel to other sites required. Reports to the Associate Dean for Student Learning.
Salary is restricted to posted range and will not exceed the maximum of the range.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify accessibility issues/concerns and improvement strategies relative to electronic information technology (EIT) content in accordance with state and federal accessibility laws and standards for electronic and information resources, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements.
- Engage a team approach to prevent or resolve physical and digital accessibility issues, coordinate implementation of improvement plans and evaluate accessibility upon completion. Work with the information technology department, faculty and other college staff to remove access concerns.
- Promote EIT policy awareness as it relates to accessibility compliance across the college.
- Provide ongoing assistance, as needed to strengthen implementation of a campus hardware and software review process for accessibility.
- Consult with faculty, administrators, and staff, as needed, regarding the instructional needs of students.
- Assist students seeking academic assistance due to temporary limitations or seeking medical withdrawals from classes, in accordance with Title IX standards.
- Coordinates college/high school partnership programs for students with disabilities, as well as programs designed to support students with disabilities transition to college study.
- Assist in the development and delivery of campus efforts aimed at the prevention of discrimination under Title IX and ADA.
- Serve on internal and external workgroups and committees to coordinate training, consulting services, and technical assistance to evaluate and monitor accessibility of electronic and information resources.
- Provide ongoing training, consultation and technical support for students and employees, regarding Title IX (pregnancy and parenting supports) and Accessibility compliance.
- Actively participate in faculty development activities. In addition to college sponsored development activities, maintain professional development and stay current in fields of academic support, learning assistance for students, and EIT best practices.
- Responsible for special projects or other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Foreign degrees – must provide a US equivalency report of your degree credentials with your transcript, if not, your resume will not be accepted.
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting).
- Three (3) years’ related work experience
- Experience testing electronic/digital accessibility, automated testing tools and assistive technology
- Previous experience interpreting and applying legal guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 508, WCAG guidelines and other pertinent federal, state and local legislation.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Familiarity with state and federal accessibility laws/standards for electronic and information resources including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements, and accessibility within standard code libraries including JQuery. Knowledge of assistive technologies (JAWS, Text-To-Speech Software, Windows Eyes, Zoom Text, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Smart Pens).
- Knowledge of state/national accessibility laws/standards for electronic and information resources (Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) requirements). Knowledge of accessibility within standard code libraries preferred including JQuery, knowledge of industry leading assistive technologies including JAWS, Window-Eyes, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking. Familiar with both Microsoft and Apple platforms.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems of accessibility. Ability to develop effective assessment tools such as surveys, questionnaires and interviews. Ability to prepare reports.
- Ability to use various external and internal academic products and physical services that faculty and students would use such as testing software (i.e. WAVE, Firefox Web Developer toolbar (plug-in), Web Accessibility Toolbar for IE, W3C Markup Validation Service) Proficiency with various MS Office applications and development.
