Five Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) students are participating in the Bucknell Community College Scholars program (BCCSP), a fully paid six-week academic program for high-achieving students at Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, Pa. Due to the Covid19 virus, the 2020 residential program at Bucknell has transitioned to a Virtual Summer Program to be held June 15 - July 13. The following LCCC students have been accepted to the 2020 Bucknell Community College Scholars Virtual Summer Program:

Jillian Degiglio (Nesquehoning)

Penina Vitulli (Albrightsville)

Mason Gyarmati (Albrightsville)

Savanna Schmidt (Coplay)

Christian Vazquez (Allentown)

The summer program will include a virtual introduction and orientation to Bucknell, academic assignments and virtual discussion sessions with faculty, virtual “Community Meetings”  in guided cohort-building activities and virtual sessions to introduce the students to campus resources and opportunities. The goal is for LCCC students to consider applying as junior transfers for the full tuition scholarship at Bucknell.

Additionally, other LCCC May 2020 graduates have been awarded scholarships. They include Liz Perez (Allentown), a chemistry major and LCCC Honors Scholars Program graduate, who has been awarded the Moravian College Community Scholarship, and Kassidy Cunningham (Whitehall), a business administration major and Honors Scholar, who was awarded the 2020 Allentown-West Rotary Scholarship.

Christian Gould (Jim Thorpe), an LCCC education A.A. graduate and Suliarys Contreras (Whitehall), a general studies A.A. graduate, have both been accepted to Bucknell University and awarded full tuition scholarships. Gould and Contreras participated in the residential Summer 2019 Bucknell Community College Scholars Summer program.
