5k Run/Walk & Zumba and Fall Festival
7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) and its Foundation will host their first 5k Run/Walk & Zumba for Education and Hunger event on Saturday, Oct. 27, in conjunction with the Foundation's seventh annual Fall Festival at the main campus in Schnecksville, Pa.
This year’s events are focused on raising money for student scholarships and LCCC’s new Cougar Cabinet food pantry, which was created in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to address food insecurity among LCCC’s students.
Event participants are encouraged to bring dry/canned goods or toiletry items to benefit the food pantry. The event will also be family-friendly and Halloween-themed, and costumes are welcome.
The 5k Run/Walk will follow a course around LCCC’s main campus in Schnecksville and along Orchard Road. Registration cost is $20 before Oct. 15; $25 after Oct. 15; $5 for students (with ID) anytime. Registration is at 7 a.m., with a warmup at 8:30 a.m. and the run/walk start at 9 a.m.
Zumba will feature ZIN instructors Tessy and Pedro Ayala, as well as Caressa James, Jonathan Vargas and Alexis Rodgers. The event will be held at Berrier Hall, also at LCCC’s main campus. Registration fee is $6 before Oct. 15; $10 after Oct. 15; $5 for students (with ID) anytime. Registration is at 10 a.m. and Zumba will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The seventh annual Fall Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center at the main campus. The event is free and open to the community, and no registration is required. Refreshments will be available for purchase and family-friendly activities will include horse-drawn carriage rides, face-painting, balloons and crafts.
Sponsors for the 5k Run/Walk & Zumba event include Sands Bethlehem and Pepsi. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and all proceeds benefit student scholarships and the LCCC food pantry.
There is still room to accept independent designers, crafters and vendors for the Fall Festival. The facility rental fees are $40, which include a table and chairs, or $30 without table. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants can choose to join the LCCC Foundation for one, two or all three events. For more information on registering visit the 5k Run/Walk or Zumba, sponsorships or volunteering website
