Individual will be responsible for installation, configuration, and support of the institution’s physical and logical LAN/WAN network and security infrastructure, including effective management of network environment, firewall and security administration. Position will report directly to the Director – Infrastructure Services.
Salary is restricted to posted range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administration of LAN infrastructure including racking, stacking, configuration, maintenance and upgrade of switches.
Administration of the WAN infrastructure across multiple campus locations.
Administration of network security including managing firewalls, ACL’s, VPNs and monitoring solutions.
Administration and support of the institution’s wireless network.
Administration of VoIP infrastructure.
Configuration and troubleshooting of all network layers with a primary focus on layers 1 – 3
Proactively monitors network to ensure service disruptions for business critical IT services are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Manages security monitoring tools to ensure the detection of security events such as attacks and data loss.
Plans and executes monthly system maintenance tasks.
Participates in implementing best practices in high availability and security.
Constructs, terminates and tests network interface cables for use between network servers, workstations and other network equipment.
Prepares technical documentation and cross-trains other IT staff.
Develops and maintains network diagrams and other related documentation.
Supports and manages projects with vendors and contractors scoping, installing, and maintaining networking equipment.
Supports other departments with related projects that may need networking tuning and protection.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
Foreign degrees – must provide a US equivalency report

Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Proven experience with troubleshooting complex systems.
Experience with configuring and deploying and maintaining network switches.
Experience with command line administration of ArubaOS, Comware, and/or Cisco.
Experience with Palo Alto or other nextgen firewalls.
Experience with network monitoring solutions.
Familiarity with Windows and Linux based operating systems.
Experience with project planning, prioritizing assignments, establishing work schedules, and meeting deadlines.

Understanding of OSI layers and associated protocols.
Understanding of IP routing protocols; including but not limited to static, RIP, IGRP, OSPF, BGP.
Comfort level with troubleshooting OSI layers 1, 2 and 3.
Understanding of wireless technology as it pertains to deployment, surveying, and upgrading APs and controllers.
Familiarity with fiber cabling and optics.
Experience with layer 2 loop detection and prevention methodologies.
Ability to perform 24x7 advanced troubleshooting, including off-hour maintenance windows, problem resolution, and on-call duty.
Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.
Extensive experience with Aruba & HPE networking solutions, Palo Alto, Avaya, DWDM, Windows, Linux, virtualization and cloud environments.
Experience with Aruba switching and wireless technologies including Clearpass.
Experience with Avaya telephony systems.
Strong command line experience.
Industry certifications such as CCNA, ACSA
Educational setting experience serving the mission of the community college.
