WednetPAGrant Funding for Workforce Training – WEDnetPA

The Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA) was created to make companies across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania more competitive locally, nationally and internationally, by updating and improving the skills of their employees to meet specific company needs.

Lehigh Carbon Community College’s Center for Leadership & Workforce Development is a WEDnetPA Partner and works closely with WEDnetPA companies to provide custom learning solutions that improve performance and support economic development in our region. Our team will partner with you to provide customized learning solutions to equip your employees with effective workplace skills to strengthen your organization.

The goal of WEDnetPA is to strengthen the business environment of the Commonwealth by helping companies improve the skills and productivity of Pennsylvania workers. Training Grant Types

• Essential Skills Training (ES)

o Limited to manufacturers and technology businesses, including biotech and environmental-technology companies. NOTE: A technology business is defined as one that produces or provides a technology product or service. 

o Maximum reimbursement is $450 per eligible employee.

Types of Eligible Training (not all inclusive):

• Applied Mathematics and Measurement

• Business Operations

• Communication and Teamwork

• Manufacturing Fundamentals:

• Blueprint Reading

• Machine Setup and Maintenance

• Tooling, Grinding

• Welding, Soldering

• Problem Solving

• Product and Process Control

• Quality Assurance

• Workplace Behavior Skills

• Workplace Health and Safety (based on whether or not it has a direct impact on improving an employee’s essential job skills).

 

Advanced Technology Training (AT)

o Eligible training activities will be those that directly improve the advanced technology job skills required for the employee’s current position. AT training is defined according to the type and scope of business being conducted by the employer.

o Maximum reimbursement is $850 per eligible employee.

• Advanced Machine Operations and Maintenance

• Advanced Manufacturing Technology includes CAD, CAM, CNC, PLC

• Advanced Software Implementation

• Computer Programming

• Data Base Development

• E-Commerce

• Information Security

• Management Information Systems

• Medical Applications

• Network Administration

• Scientific Applications

• Software Engineering

• Systems Analysis

• Technology Support

• Website Design & Development
