Nutrition
Prerequisite: Employment in institutional food service All aspects of nutrition through the life cycle, including nutrient functions, therapeutic diets, nutritional assessment, care planning, and patient education will be addressed. Included in this segment is 50 hours of hands-on field experience under the direction of a Registered Dietitian in an institutional food service setting, in addition to 49 hours of class time. Water Treatment Plant Operator Program
This course is designed to train operators in the practical aspects of operating and maintaining water treatment plants, emphasizing safe practices and procedures. Information is presented on the importance and responsibilities of a water treatment plant operator, sources of water, reservoir management, and intake structures. Operators will learn how to safely operate and maintain coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection processes. They will also learn to control tastes and odors in drinking water, control corrosion to meet the requirements of the Lead and Copper Rule, perform basic water laboratory procedures, and solve arithmetic problems commonly associated with water treatment plant operators. An important segment of the course provides operators information on overall plant operation and covers topics such as daily operating procedures, regulations of flows, chemical use and handling, records and reports, plant maintenance, safety and security, emergency conditions and procedures, handling complaints, and energy conservation. Information is presented on drinking water regulations (including the Safe Drinking Water Act), iron and manganese control, fluoridation, softening, trihalomethanes, demineralization, handling and disposal of process wastes, maintenance, instrumentation, and advanced laboratory procedures. Administrative procedures for dealing with budgeting, setting rates, recordkeeping, personnel administration, public relations, and emergency planning are also covered in this course. HVAC: Module I
Fundamentals of heat, energy, temperature scales, and oil burner application. This class takes place at REMCO, 15826 Kutztown Road in Maxatawny.

Welding I
Developing skills in SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) in the flat and horizontal positions and on a variety of joints. (fillets and grooves) Safety glasses, welding gloves, work boots, straight leg pants, and long sleeve shirts are required. This class takes place at the Welder Training and Testing Institute, 729 East Highland Street in Allentown.

Welding II
Students may take this course to become skilled in various welding and cutting processes available. Learn about vertical and horizontal SMAW, OFC-A bevels and automatic cutting, out-of-position FCAWand GMAW and stainless steel and aluminum GTAW.(Safety glasses, welding gloves, work boots, straight leg pants and long sleeve shirt required.) The course fee includes a materials fee of $60 for supplies distributed at class. Senior citizens waiver does not apply.

Warehouse Certificate
Develop skills relevant to employment in the warehouse and materials (logistics) industry. Learn about supply chain fundamentals, warehouse safety, and hands-on forklift operation. You will also develop workplace skills including: listening, conflict resolution, teamwork, and interpersonal communication.

Customer Service Certificate

Insurance Call Center Professional Certificate (Elective 1)
Earn your 24 pre-licensing credits required to take the Pennsylvania Life, Accident, and Health Insurance exams.  Learn all aspects of the Life, Accident & Health Insurance Business.  Taught by experienced professionals, the course begins with Ethics in the Insurance Industry and Pennsylvania Insurance Regulations.  Understand Life, Accident & Health Basics and terminology.  Health and Dental Insurance will be covered in detail.  Experience the World of Insurance Overview, intensive insurance preparation, and exam content review.

Payroll Certification (Elective 2)
