Orientation Program for New Students

Welcome new Fall 2015 students!

Welcome New Student to Lehigh Carbon Community College!   Every important journey requires careful preparation. Your adjustment during the first semester of college can have a major impact on the remainder of your college experience. In general, students who attend college orientation programs are better prepared to start their first semester of college. They also have an advantage because they are able to acclimate themselves to their new campus community before classes begin.

Who should attend?

We ask that all first-time freshmen (students with no previous college) complete a mandatory new student orientation. However, all new students to Lehigh Carbon Community College are encouraged to complete an orientation before class registration.  Orientation gives you  the opportunity to learn about resources that support student success at LCCC.  Please follow the link at the bottom of this page to register for orientation.  If you would prefer to meet individually with an advisor at one of the site locations, please e-mail us at orientation@lccc.edu .

If for any reason you have a question or conflict about attending an orientation, please e-mail us at this address orientation@lccc.edu  and we will do our best to help you.

What happens at Orientation?

During orientation, you will meet with other new students and there will be current student peer mentors to guide you through the program.  In addition, you will receive important information about student life, LCCC technology, academic policies and your rights and responsibilities as a Lehigh Carbon Community College student.  You will also receive your class schedule for the first semester.  That is why it is very important to complete the Course Planner portion of the orientation registration.  There will be Advisors on hand at your orientation in case you want to make changes to your class schedule.

Students with documented disabilities who may need accommodations for the orientation program must contact the Disability Support Services Office at least two weeks in advance of their orientation date. Students can reach a Disability Services Faculty member by calling 610-799-1156.

What to bring?

Please bring a photo ID (high school ID, driver’s license, passport, etc.).  Please bring your L# (LCCC student id number) and portal password or your official acceptance letter which has this information.  You should dress comfortably and be ready to move between buildings on campus. Our buildings are air conditioned and it can get chilly.  We will provide you with information on campus resources and a pen.  You are encouraged to browse the LCCC website to familiarize yourself with the college and prepare any questions you may have to be answered at the orientation.

What about parents and family?

There is a parent/family orientation that takes place at the same time as the new student orientation.  Please be advised that parents/family and their student are sent to two different programs after the official welcome.  Both orientations end at approximately the same time so please plan accordingly.  The parent/family orientation includes information about college services, student life, support services and financial aid.   As space at orientation is limited, unfortunately we cannot allow guests/friends/family to attend the new student orientation portion with their student and ask that you make other arrangements or attend the parent/family orientation.  Children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please specify on the orientation registration form the number of parents/family attending.
