Empowering Our Paraprofessionals: Where We Have Been, Where We Are, and Where We Are Going
The role of a paraprofessional can vary from classroom-to-classroom and situation-to-situation. These individuals work under the guidance of the regular and special educator, and they can be a source of support for children and young adults in so many ways within these various settings. It is time to celebrate the individuals who continue to make a difference in the classrooms and our communities. Come spend a morning and see how the special education field continues to evolve and to recognize and celebrate the individuals who help to make a difference—our paraprofessionals! Each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance.

Through the Looking Glass: A Play on the Dos and Don’ts of Classroom Behavior Management
This interactive and unique play brings the audience on a journey of the 12 common mistakes a classroom teacher makes when attempting to run a typical classroom. The audience will have an opportunity to give suggestions to the actors on how to improve each situation that they are witnessing in the classroom. The audience will also learn what four other experienced teachers would suggest to change the climate in the classroom through a video presentation. A buffet dinner is included with this presentation.
Our actors are current students in grades 10 through 12 at William Allen High School, as well as our three teachers. We also have four teachers: two elementary school teachers and two high school teachers who are contributing their classroom expertise through our video portion of the presentation.
This play is written and directed by Jeff Dutt, BSW, M.Ed, who is a current adjunct faculty member at Lehigh Carbon Community College and a Special Education Teacher at William Allen High School. He has a combined 20 years experience in social services and teaching. Each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance.
