PRISim (USE OF FORCE/JUDGMENT TRAINING)

This 8 hour course combines classroom instruction and a new, state-of-the-art interactive simulator (PRISimTM) that assists the student who carries any deadly weapon on how to respond to potentially deadly threats.

This is done safely through the use of real weapons equipped with lasers (Glock handguns, AR 15 rifle, Taser X26 less lethal taser, flashlights and pepper spray) and a large-screen projection of force options continuum scenarios and a shoot back cannon which provides immediate feedback on proper safety tactics. Feedback is also available on judgment, shooting accuracy, use of the force options continuum, appropriate use of cover, use of verbal commands, and speed of response. To enhance the realism of the training, students should be dressed in their primary attire as when they are armed. Many Use of Force topics are discussed, including decision-making, judgment, functioning under the effects of adrenaline and stress, tunnel vision, mental preparation and conditioning, reaction time, and cover/concealment. Students must possess a working knowledge of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Chapter 5.
