Medical Assistant Program
Graduates of this program are prepared for entry-level employment in physicians' offices or in those capacities in which medical secretarial and/or basic clinical and laboratory training are required. Jobs for which graduates are expected to be qualified include medical office assistant, medical secretary or transcriptionist in single or group medical practices, hospitals, laboratories, public health facilities, armed services or research institutions and other capacities requiring medical secretarial, medical assisting and office management skills.
Students who earn a Medical Assistant Associate in Applied Science degree at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) can rest assured that that they’re likely to become certified and land a job in their field.
In fact, LCCC medical assistant graduates boasts a 100-percent pass rate on the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification Exam in 2011, while the national pass rate was only 68 percent. This means that the LCCC medical exam pass rate was 32 percent above the national average. LCCC medical assistants scored in the 82nd percentile with the national average in the 40th percentile, meaning that LCCC examinees scored 42 points above the national average.
The Medical Assistant Program has 90- 100-percent job placement in the past ten years.
