Veterans
Lehigh Carbon Community College is proud of the military veterans who have served our country. The Montgomery G.I. Bill, Post 9/11 G.I. Bill, and 100% Tuition Paid (National Guard) are several examples of the programs that the government has created to assist veterans in their pursuit of higher education. Veterans are encouraged to apply for benefits as soon as possible as it may take up to 20 weeks for the Department of Veterans Affairs to process. Applicants for benefits may apply online through the G.I. Bill website at
www.gibill.va.govProcedure:
- Apply for admission to the college and follow procedures to register for classes.
- Complete the Department of Veterans Affairs and college documents as obtained from the Certifying Official in Enrollment Services.
Eligible dependents of deceased or 100% service-connected disabled veterans are required to follow the same procedures in order to apply for benefits.

Apply for Credit for Prior Training
Your military training may allow you to obtain credit for prior training in your program of study. As a veteran, you are most likely eligible to obtain four credits for Physical Education classes, provided they fit into your program of study. If you had specialized training in an area that compliments your college major, you may be able to obtain credit for that experience, as well.
To have an evaluation of your military experience, after applying to the college, you should provide a copy of your DD-214 and official copies of any transcripts to:

corban@lccc.eduObtaining this credit for prior training could save you time and money in the long run and may satisfy the requirement of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that you have a prior credit evaluation. VA can refuse to pay educational benefits to anyone who has taken courses previously and has not forwarded their transcript for evaluation for advanced standing.
Academic Requirements
Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to maintain good academic standing. Veterans/reservists/eligible dependents failing to maintain a 2.0 will be placed on academic alert, probation, or suspension, based on their GPA. If at the end of two academic semesters on alert, probation, or suspension, the student does not meet the minimum standard, the Department of Veterans Affairs will be notified within 30 days.
