Hybrid Courses

A Hybrid course merges the face-to-face interactions of a traditional course with the flexibility of an online course. It includes some required class meetings on campus PLUS required course content and activities accessed via the computer from a student's home, office, or college campus. The course includes class meetings, instructor notes, textbook(s), hotlinks, remote access to the library and student services as well as a variety of other multimedia materials designed to be used by students and faculty as the principal components of a credited college course. National research indicates that students are often more successful and satisfied with hybrid courses than with either traditional face-to-face or online courses. Hybrid courses are identified in course listings in BannerWeb and this Web site by the use of:

  • "HY" as the section number for classes that meet on the Schnecksville campus (i.e. BUS-120-HY1)
  • "TY" for classes that meet at the Morgan Center in Tamaqua. (i.e. ADN-150-TY1)

Admission and Registration

Admissions, registration procedures and course or program prerequisites for online courses are the same as for on-campus courses. Applicants submit an application for admission to the Admissions Office, meet the standard entrance requirements of the college, and must be formally admitted to the college to register for any credit courses. The courses will appear on student transcripts as sections of regular LCCC courses.
