The social sciences as a whole are an endeavor to provide an understanding of the world around us in all its complexity - from the individual level to the global picture, where we seek to gain a full understanding of our place in the world, how we have arrived here and where we might be going.

Although the Social Sciences are divided into different academic disciplines, it is important to recognize that these divisions are artificial. One cannot gain an understanding of the larger picture by studying a particular subject in isolation from the others. Study of the social sciences provides invaluable, if mostly intangible, benefits. A greater understanding of yourself and of the world around you imparts both an edge in our competitive society as well as a solid foundation necessary to making informed decisions that benefit society as a whole.

Welcome to this fascinating, enlightening study!
