Cougar Payment Plan
Although tuition at Lehigh Carbon Community College is the lowest of any college or university in the area, many students find it difficult to make one lump-sum payment at the beginning of each semester. To make it easier for students to pay tuition, the college has introduced an interest-free monthly payment option. An enrollment fee of $25 per semester provides students with the option to stretch tuition payments to two to four interest-free monthly payments. The number of payments and amount due are based on the date students enroll in the payment plan. Payments for fall semester start August 1 and continue monthly through November 1. HOPE Scholarship Tax Credit
The HOPE legislation is a tax credit that allows eligible students pursuing the first two years of post-secondary education to receive a tax credit for 100% of the first $1,000 of tuition and fees and 50% of the second $1,000 of tuition and fees on their federal income tax. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (six credit hours) in a degree, certificate, or other program leading to a recognized education credential. The measure took effect January 1, 1998, and applies to education provided in academic periods that began after that date. The credit will be reduced by any other grants/scholarships received. The credit cannot be claimed beyond the year when the student completes the first two years of college.
Private Scholarships
The college annually receives information about funds from individuals and foundations in our sponsoring area.
The college also receives information from companies and groups that are interested in providing scholarships to deserving students. Eligibility and application procedures are determined by the donor. Further information may be obtained through the Office of Financial Aid.
Veterans Benefits
The Veterans Administration provides benefits to veterans and eligible dependents of veterans. Interested students should contact Veterans Information in Enrollment Services, 610-799-1177.
Financial Aid Credit
Students whose deductible financial aid awards exceed the direct costs of tuition, fees, books, and supplies may receive the excess funds. If an enrolled student is eligible for his/her excess award, the student will receive the money approximately four to eight weeks after the first day of classes. The student's check will be mailed after the college certifies eligibility for the award funds based upon current enrollment and other factors. Funding is often adjusted during this review based upon change in enrollment.
