Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an alternative approach to traditional academic support services for college students. The SI program targets traditionally difficult academic courses and provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated sessions. These sessions focus on integrating course content with study skills. SI sessions normally occur in a classroom near the course classroom instead of the Educational Support Center. SI sessions are open to all students in the course and are attended on a voluntary basis. Students who attend SI sessions discover appropriate application of study strategies and have the opportunity to become actively involved in the course material as the SI leaders us the text, supplementary readings, and lecture notes as the vehicles for learning skills instruction.
