Academic Advising

Selecting a program of study and appropriate college courses may be one of the most important tasks in the college experience. The choices a student makes will greatly influence his/her satisfaction with the college, performance in classes, persistence in college, graduation and entrance into careers and four- year schools. Advisors and Counselors are available to assist students with these decisions, and information regarding policies and procedures at LCCC is also available. Students who are experiencing academic difficulty are encouraged to speak with an Advisor or Counselor to discuss their options.

Advisors are assigned to students by Schools at LCCC.  It is important that you meet with the Advisor within your school who has the most up to date information and best understanding of your program of study.  Students who are in a pre-health program, the General Studies program, or are Undecided are assigned to Advisors in the Advising Center. You will find information on School assignments and contact information for the Advisors by following the Advisors & Counselors link below.

All newly admitted students are required to meet with an Academic Advisor prior to enrollment. The Advisor will review transcripts of previous college work, assessment test results, the student's academic, career, and personal goals, as well as the requirements of the student's program of study. With this information, the Advisor will help the student make the most appropriate course selections.
