Environmental Health and Safety

We are a state certified committee through the Department of PA’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Certification Unit. Our committee structure must be comprised of 50/50 split between labor and management. A quorum for each meeting is needed of at least 51%. The committee must meet every month. All of our committee members must attend training via webcast annually conducted by a Loss Control Specialist. Training for committee members is comprised of three areas: Conducting Effective Safety Committee Meetings, Accident Investigations, and Hazard Identification.

On June 26, 2003 we became certified under Article X, Health and Safety of the Workers’ Compensation Act. Through this certification, the College receives a 5% discount on our workers’ compensation rates.

Our committee reviews safety issues and concerns brought to us by staff and students.
