WXLV Program Director Burr Beard started in radio with WYEPPittsburgh during college in the 1970's. He programmed a folk show whileplaying in a band he still performs with, Devilish Merry. With a BA inHistory Education from Pitt and masters study in Mass Communications from theUniversity of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Burr has taught radio and TV andstarted up WNCW Spindale, NC as an Americana and Triple A format radiostation. From North Carolina, Burr came to the Lehigh Valley with hisfamily in 1998 to manage WDIY Bethlehem. He has been with WXLV since June2006 and master-mined the station's re-organization and re-formatting to what itis today. Listen to "The Burr Thing" each weekday morning on90.3 XLV!
Fred Boenig aka Chance Austin- "Your Most HumbledHost" started in radio in 1996 at WDVR 89.7 in NJ as a volunteer with aGospel radio show known as "The Sunday Night Revival" Fred developedthe Americana format at WDVR starting with his weekly radio show "Hep Catsand Neon Armadillos" while he was chairman of the Programming committee,making WDVR a major player in the Americana Format. He created WDVR's firstlive performance radio show "Americana on the Air" as well as "Live@StudioD" and the very popular"Heartland Hayride". In 2001, Fred was voted "PD of theYear" by Network Magazine the publisher of the "Official AmericanaChart." That year after Sept 11, Fred started Americana Media Productions,a radio promotions company for independent "Roots" artists. Thecompany has grown into a larger company known as The Artist Development Co Op,where Fred is a part of group of industry professionals whose purpose is tohelp independent "Roots" artist with radio, film, media anddeveloping an internet presence.
Fred also was host of WMUH's "Broken Hearts and AutoParts" show for 3 years with his persona "Rusty Dodge". Fredcurrently hosts, WLVR 91.3 in Bethlehem, on Saturday morning 6-9 am a show knowto all their outlaw listeners as "This Outlaw Thing" under thepersona of "Ford Impala". Fred and WXLV host Big Kev started the"Living Room Series" out of Fred's Emmaus, PA, living room studio andhave had artists like Buddy Miller, Rodney Crowell, BR549 and Ray Wylie Hubbardas guests. That is now available to stations world wide.
Fred is known nationally for his passion for this format andhis work to level the playing field for independent Roots artist. "Chance Austin" hosts the Wednesday afternoon Roots 90.3 XLVprogramming from noon until 4pm.
Tom Druckenmiller has been a radio program host and producerfor the past 20 years. He began as a member of the Lehigh Valley CommunityBroadcasters at Muhlenberg College programming Classical music and later movingon to focus on jazz and folk. Tom also began programming Classical music atWXLV in marathon 6-12 hour programs in 1990. He produced a Bluegrass andOld-time music program called "Sunday in The Mountains" at WMUH-FMlater moving the program to WXLV in the early 1990's. He became folk musiccoordinator for the LVCBA and served on the programming committee which plannedthe day to day operating schedule for WDIY 2 years before actually coming on airin 1995. His program "In The Tradition" began the first week of 1995on WDIY and has continued until present. When WXLV entered into a managementagreement with WDIY the program began to be simulcast on WXLV. Tom served asMusic Director at WDIY for two years from 1997-99. The job included reportingto the Americana Survey.
All along Tom was employed as a nurse at Good Shepherd Raker Center havingrecently retired after 30 years of service. His nursing school training wasaccomplished at Northampton County College where he was class speaker atgraduation. In addition to his work life Tom has been a working musician sincethe late 1960's. He has played in country and rock and roll bands as well asperformed as a solo performer all through his working life and nursing school.He has taught guitar for almost 40 years and has been teaching banjo for thepast eight years. He has 24 guitar and banjo students at his home studio inSouth Whitehall Township and at Meadowood Music in Blandon PA. Presently heplays with his son Nathan and wife Betty in an old-time music trio. They havereleased 5 CD's which have been broadcast throughout the US, Europe,Australia and New Zealand. They regularly play up and down the east coast fromMassachusetts to North Carolina.
For the past ten years Tom has been a contributing writer for Sing Out!Magazine the world's foremost folk music magazine. He also is a music reviewerfor The Old-Time Herald a scholarly journal devoted to early country music. Heis also a free lance journalist having written promotional pieces for MartinGuitar and other firms. As the WXLV staff writer, Tom writes weekly new andclassic album reviews for WXLV publications publications.
Tom presently is employed as coordinator for Folk Arts Week and as Old-Timeguitar Instructor at the Augusta Heritage Folk Arts Workshops in Elkins WV. Hehas taught guitar and radio production at the Arts Workshop.
Tom has finally achieved his dream allowing music to be a full time occupation. He is the Thursday afternoon Roots 90.3 XLV host and as mentioned his WDIYprogram In The Tradition is simulcast on WXLV Wednesday evening from 7-9PM.
Dawn Warner was introduced to radio with the launch of Roots 90.3 XLV inSeptember 2006. Program Director Burr Beard saw Dawn's interest inCountry and Americana music and asked her to help get this new formattedstation operating on various levels including on-air hosting. Dawnstarted as an afternoon Roots program host - on Monday and Tuesday afternoons -having to learn absolutely everything about being a radio host, programmer andfamiliarity with the music of an Americana format. She fell in love withthe music and simply with being on radio.
When a new job forced her off the air on Monday and Tuesdays, she moved toSundays, starting the Country Brunch show. Fortunately another job changeallowed for her to come back on the air on Tuesday afternoons for the Rootsprogram, along with a lot of "behind the scenes" work in musicreporting, membership and marketing to help keep the station runningsmoothly. Dawn's "real" job is in marketing and sales, acareer path that she has traveled for twenty years.

Ryan Scharadin is a photographer and music producer/engineerin the Lehigh Valley, PA. His interests lie in the subjective experience ofreality. Born in Allentown, Ryan moved to Emmaus during teenage years. Heattended Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ and graduated with a BFA in GraphicDesign and Visual Communication. Ryan also holds a degree in PersonalComputing and Network Technology.
As a photographer the philosophical question of whatconstitutes 'the real' has been an important one for Ryan, who wants to connectwith the viewer and give to them something not named but yetvisible. He also owns and operates Gipzy Music, a Pre/Post AudioProduction Studio in Schnecksville, PA.
This brings Ryan to DJ with WXLV at Lehigh Carbon CommunityCollege. Music and art spokes directly to his heart and connects him withthe world. "My gift is to share with the community my choice ofselected pieces of music in which I see reality through'" says Ryan,"music is the universal language throughout many different cultures andhabitats, let's give the community Americana. Dave Marchetti has been around the music business since thelate 1960's.
He played in Junior High School and High School Bands, Orchestras,
Stage Bands, and Musical Productions. He entered Temple University in
1971 and received a BA degree in 1975. He subsequently received a MS
degree from Lehigh University in 1977.
After spending 8 years as a caseworker then a Boy ScoutProfessional, Dave decided to pursue music as a career. He attended NeupauerConservatory of Music in Philadelphia
from 1970-72 and Temple University School of Music from 1971-1975. Since thelate 1960's Dave has performed in many local bands and orchestras from marchingbands to pit orchestras to combos and rock bands on keyboards, bass, and drums.Over the past 21 years He has performed as a duo with various local artists andas a solo pianist for
restaurants and lounges .
In 1990 he had the privilege of performing as a keyboardistwith Jay and The Techniques. Beginning in 1992, Dave serves as accompanist and musical director for J&L Productions and The Lillie LangtryShow. He currently plays the piano bar at Christopher's Restaurant at theKnight's of Columbus in Allentown and is a member of
the Jim Groller Band. He plays keyboards with The Blue Notes composed of members of the Melodee Aces. He also gives private lessons on piano.
Throughout the years many of Dave's friends had beeninvolved in radio and as a result, he has developed an affinity for thatmedium. Dave would like to thank the management of WXLV for giving him theopportunity to become involved in radio broadcasting. "The UncleDave Show" airs Saturdays from 11am to 1PM.
Big Kev is well known and respected in the Americana musicfield, Kevin "Big Kev" Ploghoft has been in the radio industry forover 20 years. Currently he is the Talent Co-ordinator and ContentConsultant for WXLV -Roots 90.3 in Schnecksville,Pa, as well as Music Directorfor Regional Roots Radio.
Big Kev hosts his regular weekly WXLV radio program called"The Big Country Revue" Saturday afternoons 1-4pm. BK alsowrites a monthly column for the Artist Development Co-op called "A SitdownWith the Consilegrie"

Big Kev is the former Music Director of WDVR-FM inSergeantsville,NJ (2002-2007) and is the co-creator, co-prodcucer along withthe Artist Development Co Op and host of the Living Room Series radio programthat airs on numerous stations. The "Living Room Series" wascreated to put the artist in a comfortable setting to speak freely and performas though they were sitting in their own living room with their friends andfamily. Going into its fifth year, the "Living Room Series" issure to add the kind of programming true Americana/Roots listeners will enjoy.
The Motel Time Again Series started at the Americana MusicAssociation's Festival/Conference in a small motel room studio in NashvilleTN. These are short interviews and performances with top artists in theAmericana format that are not only fun, but enlightening.
Big Kev is a master at making the artist feel at ease andasking straight forward, fun and interesting questions.
BK is also a member of The Americana Music Association andsits on the AMA's Radio Task Force committee, in addition to hosting variousmusic events around the country.
Theo Anderson is a photographer based in Allentown,Pennsylvania. He attended LCCC and was freshman class president, foundingmember of the "radio shack" (later to become WXLV) and the producerof the famed Flying Burrito Brothers concert at the college. He graduated fromTemple University in 1974 with a B.A. in political science. He attendedgraduate school at Lehigh University pursuing a Doctorate of Arts in government.While in graduate school he bought his first camera and built a darkroom in thecloset of his apartment. Self taught, Anderson's passion for photography grewto become his life's work. He left graduate school in 1978 to begin a career asa photographer and later that year, he had his first one person show, TheInclement Weather Portfolio at Lehigh University.
Over the past 30 years, Anderson's commissioned projects forhave taken him to Asia, Europe and throughout North and Central America. Sincemid 1990, Anderson has made photojournalism for corporate and institutionalclients the primary focus of his commissioned work. His current clients includeLehigh University, MBIA and Air Products.
Anderson has turned his primary attention to his personal work. Anderson's current projects include, "Where's Joe? The Ghost of BethlehemSteel," "Pennsylvania," and "West of Moscow."
Anderson has been with WXLV since it's rebirth and host's "Friday's withTheo," and serves as President of the station's Community AdvisoryBoard. Theo directs station marketing initiatives. He is never farfrom launching "over the top."
