Lehigh Carbon Community College and the Emergency Medicine Institute of Lehigh Valley Hospital will offer the following EMT Basic training courses. The EMT Basic course includes skill demonstrations, "hands-on" practical skill workshops, and didactic presentation. Programs will be provided by the Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Pennsylvania State Certified EMT instructor team. Lehigh County classes meet at and required books are to be purchased the first day of class from the Emergency Medicine Institute (EMI), 2166 S. 12th St., Allentown. The registration fee for each course is $125.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-10 p.m. August 26, 2008 - January 29, 2009

Location: EMI, Allentown

EMS 403-C10

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. September 2, 2008 - March 10, 2009

Location: Carbon Center, 124 E. Locust St., Nesquehoning

The following EMT Bridge course prepares students to upgrade from First Responder to EMT Basic. Candidates must hold a valid CPR card, a current PA First Responder certification, and maintain a 70% academic average throughout the course. Class meets at EMI in Allentown and costs $75. Testing date is Dec. 13, 2008.
