Job Title: Receptionist/Switchboard

Classification: Secretary/Office Assistant - Part Time

Work Schedule: 15 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 to 9:45 p.m.

Pay Rate: $9.76 - $12.21 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Operates switchboard and performs varied general clerical and receptionist duties under general supervision of the director of auxiliary services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives all incoming calls and transfers to proper location.
  • Places long distance calls.
  • Receives visitors, prospective students, etc., and directs to proper offices.
  • Gives routine information as required.
  • Performs clerical functions including: distributing mail, sets up marquee, and typing.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

High school degree or equivalent required. Prior switchboard experience preferred. Good communication skills. Ability to type. Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint and MS Word. Ability to work under stressful conditions including numerous interruptions. Professional appearance and manner. Flexible work schedule subject to change to cover other shifts. Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors; teamwork/cooperation; initiative, customer services, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
