Summary

Responsible for the coordination, supervision and daily operation of functions pertaining to the recruitment and admission of students. Provides leadership for the admissions team in planning, organizing and implementing strategies to meet college enrollment goals for students, as prioritized in the college strategic plan. Implementation includes maximum utilization of technology in all aspects of the recruitment and enrollment processes. Reports to the dean of students and is a member of the college's Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of the daily operations of the admissions office, including direct supervision and performance evaluation of all full and part-time professional and support staff, operational and budget planning/management, implementation of recruitment plans to meet or exceed new student enrollment goals.
  • Responsible for tracking and successfully converting inquiries to applicants and applicants to new students.
  • Responsible for conducting a thorough review of all recruiting processes, providing direct assistance to the dean of students in analyzing and determining methods by which the effectiveness of admissions operations and outcomes can be appropriately strengthened.
  • Implementation of Leads 360 leads management tool for the 08-09 recruiting season; plan and work toward transition to the Banner recruit module in the coming year.
  • Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of all current departmental processes within the admissions office designed to track prospects, convert prospects to applicants, track applicants, and convert applicants to enrolled students. Reviews data to determine strengths, areas of weakness and recommend strategies to strengthen efforts to meet or exceed new student enrollment goals.
  • Works closely with the Dean of Students, academic and student affairs professionals, institutional advancement professionals and college committees to ensure that we have successful new student recruitment processes that support student success.
  • Reviews and analyzes recruitment outcomes data to steer the development and implementation of an annual recruitment plan for the college main campus and the sites, designed to meet or exceed new student enrollment goals.
  • Reviews and analyzes the department's current staffing structure and assignment of duties to determine strengths, areas of weakness and recommend strategies to the Dean of Students for strengthening effectiveness in meeting or exceeding new student enrollment goals.
  • Communicates effectively with prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, members of the business community, community organization representatives, faculty and other administrators within the institution.
  • Provides leadership that ensures a commitment to customer service.
  • Prepares planning documents and reports as assigned.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible experience managing a sales operation, particularly admissions, recruitment or intangible products required. Community college experience preferred. At least five years of experience required in supervising and leading a team of professional staff, budget management, planning and assessment. Proven ability to communicate effectively, and work well with a wide variety of all constituencies. Student-oriented with demonstrated experience working successfully with diverse student populations. Must possess a high level of the work skills and behaviors including: organization and coordination or multiple efforts, team building, initiative, customer service and follow up, outcomes assessment, planning and report writing, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
