Job Title: Assistant Controller - Accounting
Work Schedule: Full-time
Annual Salary: $43,212 - $60,057

Summary
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, proper accounting for all financial activity of the college in an effective and efficient manner to ensure compliance with all accounting practices and financial reporting requirements and guidelines, and all federal and state reporting requirements. Provide information to assist the administration in decision-making process and the effective allocation and use of college resources, and assist faculty and staff in understanding the financial operation of the college. Primary areas of responsibility include grants, banner financial system, College budget, and special projects. The Assistant Controller will participate as a member of the college administrative team by assisting in all areas encompassed under financial operations. Directly responsible to the Vice President/Controller.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant license preferred. Five years of progressive experience in an accounting and business management capacity. Higher education and/or government and not-for profit experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office products. Experience with enterprise software required, preferably SCT Banner. Applicant must have sufficient experience and background in financial reporting and accounting to be able to supervise and manage all functions within the department of financial operations. Must possess good communication skills to deal with both internal and external constituencies. Must be able to set priorities, plan work, and work independently. Must be detail oriented and able to enforce policies and procedures. Must be able to independently research state and federal purchasing and accounting issues to apply results of findings to actual situations. Proficient in usage of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
